Apraxia-Kids
"Apraxia-Kids
started as a listserv for parents who have children with apraxia of speech. Such a forum
was obviously deeply needed, for the list quickly grew to a vital and busy exchange
between parents all over the globe as well as therapists and other professionals who have
joined us. Probably one of the most frequent posts on the listserv which we have seen goes
like this: "I have learned more about my child's speech problems and apraxia of
speech in the last week than I learned in the past several years." Clearly there is
power in parents sharing their experience and knowledge with one another..."

Hands
Can Talk
Inspired by their daughter Elysha,
Aileen Ryan and her husband John have developed this innovative
Australian site about signing. Aileen writes, "Sign
language has been fantastic for my daughter, Elysha [who has
Down Syndrome], as a bridging language. Spoken language is her
first language but due to her hearing loss and problems with
being understood, sign language has been a life saver."
Hearing Resources
"I think the hardest part for us as parents was the lack of
information that was given to us when we were told our son could not hear. There are so
many things to consider about children with hearing impairments. Things you don't even
think about. The main issue being, how do you communicate? There are many ways of
communicating with a child with a hearing impairment... " Kyle's mother,
Sherry Zeilstra, developed this helpful site.

medical professionals, and caregivers with information regarding
