Freida
van Staden is a Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia.
She joined the
Gordon group in April 1998 and left on June 30, 2003,
to settle in the Albury area, having made a wonderful contribution to the
practice.
Freida
graduated as a Speech-Language Pathologist from the University of
the Witwatersrand in 1973, having gained a speech and drama licentiate diploma
from the University of South Africa the previous year.
She has had a
varied clinical background including positions as a Speech-Language Pathologist with the Transvaal Education Department, and as
a research assistant and clinical tutor at the University of the Witwatersrand.
While there, she was responsible for establishing a special unit for young
language and hearing impaired children, heading the language component of
the unit. She has also worked for a Remedial School and at a boys home.
From
1978 she conducted a thriving private practice in Johannesburg, developing skills in assessing and treating a wide range of communication
disorders, particularly enjoying 3 to 8 year olds.
Always
flexible and adaptable, Freida
quickly became an integral member of our team from 1998 to 2003,
seeing children with a range of speech, language, literacy and learning difficulties.
Web
Site Some of Freida's spare time is spent developing her fascinating
Web
Site where she has included a variety of
speech
and language therapy materials including her
worksheets
and stories and
top
ten resources. It gives Freida's clients (and their parents) quite
a buzz when they see their illustrated
creative
writing posted on her site.
